Crocs Flip Flips

Good news for people who love the way Crocs feel but hate the way the shoes look! Crocs has launched a new brand of flip-flops. Now you can reap the benefits of Crocs comfortable fit without giving in to what some would call a fashion-backwards craze.

First of all, let’s look at the similarities between the traditional Crocs and the new Crocs flip-flops. Perhaps the most important shared feature is that both shoes are made out of the same revolutionary croslite material. Croslite is a “foam resin” made from ethylene vinyl acetate. It is not plastic or rubber. The material is supposed to be particularly good for footwear because it slightly changes shape when heated. This means that when you wear your new pair of Crocs, the foot bed will gradually mold to the exact shape of your feet giving you a custom fit. Croslite is also touted as an anti-microbial material (very good for people with a vested interest in eliminating foot odor or preventing fungal and bacterial infections), and it can be cleaned simply with soap and water.

Now let’s take a look at two different versions of Crocs flip flops to get a better idea of the specific features these shoes can offer you. The sole of the Crocs Wave sandal is made from Croslite material but its strap across the top of the foot is made from fabric providing a softer, more comfortable fit. For certain sizes of the shoe, a back strap is also available. This feature is great for those who love flip-flops but want a version of the shoe that is kinder on their feet, ankles, knees and hips (the absence of a back strap causes the toes to grip the foot bed of the flip flop leading to all sorts of alignment and stride problems). The shoe is a bit bulkier than the average flip-flop but comes in a great series of colors including Sea Blue / Red and Lime / Neon Pink.

The Crocs Captiva is also made with the anti-microbial croslite material. Its foot bed is described as a “pillowed flex foot bed”. What this means is that there are three slight grooves at strategic places on the foot bed that allow the shoe to roll smoothly from heel to toe with the natural stride of the foot. The Captiva is made with a satin-coated strap that will not irritate the soft skin on the top of the foot. It also comes in fun color combinations such as White / Berry and White / Jade.
