Since the creation of the internet, bandwidth has been a product that is much needed for efficient online production. In recent years bandwidth management and bandwidth optimization have gone hand in hand to increase bandwidth functionality so that users are comfortable with near lightening speed search results. To define bandwidth management / bandwidth optimization we must first learn what bandwidth is. Bandwidth is a product that is used everywhere in the world by people who are searching the web. In addition, users need more and more bandwidth to keep up with the changing trends of speed and dominance of search related content online. Below are just a couple of examples of various types of solutions needed to increase bandwidth:

    •    Web-browsing that is not company significant, but potentially intensive in bandwidth

    •    Web-content that is company related and is more bandwidth intensive, info. that needs to be pushed out to potential consumers ASAP

    •    Vital applications that need to operate of a corporate VPN

In today’s information driven society, the ultimate solution to bandwidth optimization has always been to increase bandwidth where necessary and to put the slow speeds to rest. Who wants to download something slow? Users are looking for results and information and they want it NOW! The solution; users will get the wanted bandwidth, but at a cost. There is a financial price tag that always comes with speed, efficiency and hassle free types of products and services. With a fast bandwidth usually comes expensive servers and IT professionals maintaining the “pipes” where information flows from point A to point B.  Another solution has been to go with what has worked in the past and put up with a slow connection because a company is too cheap to invest in a speedier connection. What is the Downfall? At the end of the day this only impacts consumers, as they would have the feeling of slowed time lapse and delay in retrieval with regards to information web circuits. Bottom line, a slower connection equals loss of co
    nsumers and information retrieval.

Bandwidth management is important to both web users and organizations. It is the process of measuring and controlling communication, information on a network in order to avoid filling up to its capacity or crossing the capacity, which would result in a network blockage and poor performance. In other words, bandwidth management helps to increase bandwidth by providing resources for applications important on a network. Typically, bandwidth management functions by organizing outgoing network traffic into various categories; application and service types. Organizing your systems and information will only help your network in the end by providing efficiency and convenience when operating those systems and retrieving data from the internet.
